Church Urban Fund has launched a new “Blog Your Bauble” page on its website for Christmas year. The idea allows people to have their own Christmas bauble on which they can blog their own thoughts and prayers about poverty in the UK.

The scheme is running alongside Church Urban Fund’s “Make a Different Gift” appeal. The scheme is meant to allow people to make a real difference to the lives of the poorest communities in England, by addressing local needs.

“Make a Different Gift” encourages individuals, churches, schools and other groups to get involved either by donations, fundraising activities or simply through prayer.

Among the activities suggested for the “Make A Different Gift” appeal are children’s activity sheets which provide blank Christmas baubles which can be cut out and have prayers written on them. The sheets also have educational facts about homelessness and poverty in the UK on them.

Other ideas include the Big Brunch where groups will hold a lunch, picnic or breakfast at which everyone pays a small amount, all the proceeds of which go to Church Urban Fund for community projects tackling poverty.
