Enough evidence seen to prosecute Zuma

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa's top prosecutor says there is enough evidence to prosecute Jacob Zuma, the new head of the ruling ANC, on allegations of corruption, Talk Radio 702 reported on Thursday.

It reported that National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) acting director Mokotedi Mpshe "says a final decision on when to take action against the newly-elected ANC president is imminent."

NPA spokesman Tlali Tlali had no immediate comment on the report.

Zuma became the new leader of the African National Congress this week after defeating President Thabo Mbeki. He is on track to become the country's president in 2009.

Mbeki fired Zuma after he was implicated in an arms corruption scandal in 2005. Zuma denies any wrongdoing.
