The internationally renowned Ukrainian singer and songwriter, Ruslana, winner of Eurovision 2004, is holding a Benefit Charity Concert 17th May 2005 in the open-air courtyard of the 'Arena City' entertainment complex in Bessarabska Square in Kyiv, broadcasted on First National TV Channel as well as internationally throughout the Europe.

Early this month, Ruslana was appointed as National Ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), which has been working for nearly 60 years in 158 countries to help children survive, thrive by providing nutrition as well as quality basic education and protection from violence.

Ruslana will advocate for the rights of every Ukrainian child to health, dignity and development and serve as a representative of UNICEF, using her popularity and personal interest in children's issues.

Revealing her deep commitment to help children, Ruslana expressed that, "it is not just a matter of joining a list of stars supporting UNICEF, but having the chance to personally contribute to improve the lives and futures of children."

Striving to make people aware of humanitarian needs by addressing the mass media through publications, radio and TV appearances, profits from Ruslana's concert will be transferred to the Charity help Foundation for a medical program of the Chernobyl's children.

In the new live show, based on ancient Ukrainian Hutsul legends, Ruslana will use her wild energy, performing alongside twenty dancers and accompanied by thirty orchestral musicians, rock bands, DJ's and drummers, with bright decorations, pyrotechnics and special effects, changing her costumes no less than ten times.

"Ruslana cares very deeply about the plight of Ukraine's children. Her stature as an international rock star has in no way diminished her warmth or her eagerness to help her people," said Children of Chernobyl Relief Fund’s Country Director, Olena Nyzhnykevych.
