Stevie Wonder launches tour in UK

U.S. singer/songwriter Stevie Wonder will tour Europe for the first time in more than a decade, organisers said on Thursday.

The Grammy-winning artist will open on September 8 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. The tour is due to end on September 28 at the Bercy in Paris, and stops in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy on the way.

"I am looking forward to performing in these venues in Europe," the 58-year-old said in a statement. "We are going to have some wonderful nights of intimate excitement."

Tickets go on sale on Friday and can be purchased at Web site www.livenation.eu/steviewonder.
