ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA - One Christian has been killed, and a group of Christian families are taking shelter in a church after their homes were set on fire by Muslim militants, a persecution agency has told Christian Today.

Tensions in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, have escalated since Ajia Delge from Kofele was murdered on January 5. He was hit on the head with a metal iron, while walking near his house, according to Voice of the Martyrs Canada (VOMC).

His family believe he was attacked by Muslim militants, Bos News Life has reported. However, the identity of the attacker(s) remains unknown.

In a separate case, the homes of three Christian families were torched by Muslim militants on January 8 in the Begge village, according to VOMC.

Tareku Meres, Jemal Tasesa and Tamene Gemechu and their families have been staying in a local church since the incident.

The group said that the local police have not yet taken any action to capture the person responsible for the arson, Bos News Life has reported.

There has been growing concern over the mounting influence of Muslim militants in Ethiopia.

Christians have been ignoring the hate extremist Muslims have for us. It is time to defend our country and our religion.

This is a complete fabrication in a country where Islam and Christian coexisted since time immemorial.
