Around 3,500 people have now signed their names to BMS World Mission's anti-trafficking postcard campaign since its launch in May.

Up to 100 In transit postcards are arriving at the BMS offices every day, with some 2,000 returned in the last month alone.

Over 100 people have used the e-postcard on the BMS website to respond.

The campaign urges UK Baptists to not only declare their opposition to human trafficking, but also to support evangelical Christians in Albania as they actively lobby the government there to create more effective legislation.

Later this year all postcards collected will be presented as a petition to the Albanian ambassador in London.

BMS editorial assistant Andrew Dubock, who has headed up the campaign, says: "It's really encouraging to see the brilliant response from churches and individuals already to In transit.

"Thank you for supporting what Albanian Christians are trying to achieve in putting an end to people trafficking in that country.

"I would urge churches who haven't highlighted the issue yet to make use of the postcards and the other resources available," he said.

In transit runs until 5 November.
