One of the largest social action and evangelism initiatives in the UK will commence today, as SOULWEEK officially opens Saturday evening at Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) in Hackney, London.
The week-long event will gather thousands of young people from various churches, denominations and cultures, who will unite to work throughout the week on various projects, local events and community outreaches aimed at blessing thousands of people.
SOULWEEK has been organised by SoulintheCity and TRUCE, and will take place from 29th July until 5th August 2006. It is promoted as bringing together the growing matrix of over 1000 churches, charities and agencies that were involved with the SoulintheCity phenomenon in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and looks set to become the largest grassroots youth movement in any City within the UK.
The summer mission has already been introduced by TRUCE throughout July, where in Hackney the organisation has embarked on a massive anti-guns Campaign backed by the Metropolitan Police in partnership with Nicky Cruz and crew from New York, USA.
