The annual report from UNICEF, the child welfare wing of the UN, has said that hundreds of millions of children around the world live unprotected and on the edge of society.

Street kids, refugees, AIDS orphans, child soldiers, child prostitutes and working girls and boys are ignored by governments, authorities and the public, said the UNICEF report.

"State of the World's Children 2005" was presented in Berlin on Wednesday.
