Description

In May 2002 the Government of Eritrea effectively declared churches not belonging to the Orthodox, Catholic and Lutheran denominations illegal. Amongst these was Rhema, the home church of Helen Berhane.

She released this CD in 2003, just before her arrest in May 2004.

Helen is one of almost 2000 Eritrean Christians currently detained without trial or charge, some of whom are facing severe mistreatment at the hands of the Government of Eritrea.

Since her arrest and subsequent refusal to sign a letter recanting her faith that would have ensured her immediate release, most of Helen’s days have been spent in solitary confinement, sometimes in shipping containers.

The re-release of this CD, made possible through the support of Release-Eritrea and Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), is in tribute to Helen’s steadfast faith in the face of persecution.

We pray that freedom of worship will soon be restored in Eritrea. In the meantime our message to our brothers and sisters there is that they are:

Persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down but not destroyed.
